Sodium Methylate acts corrosively to skin, and it is also soluble in ethanol, glycerol etc. In the presence of water, it will decompose to methanol and sodium hydroxide. Methanol is toxic and has strong thrill for human being's breath system.

Usage:
Mainly used in pharmacy, such as preparation of Vitamin A1, Vitamin B1, Sulfadoxine, Trimethoprim(TMP), etc. A small quantity of Sodium methylate is used in producing pesticides. It can be also used for processing edible fat and edible catalyst and can be used as analyzed reagent either.
